What drives the price

1. Concrete plinth , R1,500 to R4,000 depending on size.
2. Pump , standard 0.75 kW booster R2,800 to R4,500; smart pressure pump (Pedrollo, DAB) R5,500 to R9,000.
3. Automatic changeover valve between municipal and tank , R1,800 to R3,200.
4. First-flush diverter if catching rainwater , R650 to R1,200.
5. Overflow to stormwater as per bylaw , R400 to R900.

Common mistakes

• Pump running dry (no low-level switch)
• Overflow into a French drain that floods the neighbour
• Poly pipe in direct sun (UV cracks within 3 years, use HDPE or lag it)
• No non-return valve (tank feeds back into mains)
