What's in the installation price

A compliant install under SANS 10254 includes:

  • New drip tray and overflow to outside
  • Vacuum breakers on hot and cold lines
  • Pressure control valve (400 kPa default)
  • Expansion relief valve
  • Electrical isolator
  • Certificate of Compliance (CoC) - mandatory for insurance

Skip these and your insurer will reject the next burst claim.

Cheaper isn't cheaper

A R5,500 "special" install usually means second-hand brackets, no CoC, and copper swapped for thin PEX. You pay twice when it fails in 18 months.

Insurance replacement

If your geyser bursts and you're covered, the insurer appoints the plumber and pays directly. You're liable for the excess (usually R1,500-R3,500) and any upgrade you choose (solar conversion, bigger tank).
